Business User Group Attendance Up by 46%; Developer Forum Grows by 25%
BEAVERTON, OR, June 3, 2010 – Click Commerce, the pioneer in customer-configurable solutions for the business of research, completed a record-breaking 8th annual C3 User Group meeting for business users of Click’s eResearch Portal platform for research administration, compliance, and clinical trials. This year’s gathering again focused on critical automation issues in the business of research and saw attendance increase by 46% over last year’s record-breaking conference, with 130 attendees from 34 institutions participating. Among them were some of the largest and most prestigious academic medical centers and research organizations in the U.S., including Children’s Hospital Boston, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, The Ohio State University, UCLA, University of Chicago and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas as well as the largest independent IRB services provider in North America, Western Institutional Review Board.
Hosted by Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, this year’s two-day conference featured speakers and panelists from Huron Consulting, Johns Hopkins University, MetroHealth Medical Center, the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Rush University, the University of Michigan, the University of South Florida, and the University of Utah as well as Click. Panels and presentations covered diverse topics of broad interest such as meeting AAHRPP accreditation standards, clinical trials billing automation, an overview of automation’s cost and compliance benefits, and electronic submissions for grants funding. A new feature this year was a series of interactive workgroup sessions focused on grants, institutional review boards, and animal operations.
This event followed the company’s C3 Developer Forum (C3DF) in February, the industry’s only conference specifically aimed at technology professionals who develop and configure software applications for eResearch. For the 3rd year, the forum was held at the company’s Beaverton, OR, offices and once again drew record numbers: 50 attendees—a 25% increase over 2009—from 25 organizations. Together the two forums give eResearch Portal users throughout the research community an opportunity to share experiences, best practices, technical tips and training, as well as insights into business issues driving eResearch use and development and input on the Click product roadmap.
“Despite a dismal economy, the dramatic increases in attendance at this year’s forums are an indication of how valuable these gatherings are to people who manage the business of research,” said Nick Stier, president, Click Commerce. “These conferences are providing a clearinghouse for testing out new concepts on knowledgeable peers and networking with some of the most experienced automation sources in the industry. Our biggest problem going forward is trying to fit everything in.”
Leading research institutions use Click Commerce’s browser-based, secure eResearch Portal to automate a wide range of administrative processes, including those associated with IRB, IACUC, Conflict of Interest, Grants, and Clinical Trials Billing, among others.
